On 11 October 2022, Canossaville Children and Community Services was one of the recipients of the President’s Volunteerism and Philanthropy Awards (PVPA). This award is to celebrate and recognise individuals, leaders, organisations, and cross-sector partnerships that have achieved excellence in giving. As another year comes to a close and restrictions are lifted, we count our blessings and thank God for the recognition.
It has been an amazing and fulfilling journey with our staff and partners within the village. After having established ourselves as a social service agency, we needed to be on the constant lookout to ensure that we remain relevant. In the past two and a half years, when the pandemic struck, it became clear that our mission was to support the children and families in a more holistic manner. We had to remind ourselves that we cannot do our outreach alone and piecemeal. Besides providing food packages and material needs, it became clear that we had to ascertain that the mental health and well-being of children and their parents needed to be supported. For our ministries, Canossaville is recognised as an Organisation of Good – Non-Profit Organisation.
The award is an affirmation of the good we do and a motivation for us to do better. It is only the beginning, and we know we would not have achieved this if not for our partners, volunteers, donors, and staff. I pray that we can only get better. Better for those in need, young and old, rich and poor alike, than for ourselves. We need to help build a community that supports each other regardless of our social status in society.

Thank you for being a part of our mission to form hearts and transform lives. Together with our schools, both mainstream and special needs sectors, we aim to continue to reach out and improve our services. We strive to do better, grow in our commitment, and share our mission because of each of you who believe in and generously contribute to it.
We know that the near future is not going to be an easy one. What is important is that there is hope when we learn to care and continue to foster and grow Singapore as a city of good for all. We look forward to your continuing support, and as we come to the end of another year, our hearts are full of joy and gratitude to God for His blessings and for each of you.
God bless you abundantly.
