“Look at the past with gratitude, the present with passion and the future with hope” – Pope Francis
With gratitude in our hearts, we are thankful for all the blessings we received in the year 2023. It is easy to get caught up in the day-to-day grind and put the attitude of gratitude on the back burner. While the celebration of Thanksgiving is not in our culture, we need to reflect during this Advent season and remind ourselves of the blessings we have received every day this year.
Canossaville looks back and give thanks to God. The Lord has always been kind and gracious to us despite the struggles we have gone through for many months. We have witnessed the promise of His fidelity to us. As an organisation, we learn that the vicissitudes of life are part and parcel of our growth.
We are grateful for the team from the Shared Services who has worked hard to reach out to sponsors and partners and help them find meaning in their giving and gifting. We are also blessed to have our new staff and everyone giving their best to provide a safe and enriching environment to those in Canossaville Student Care and Canossaville Preschool. Our collaboration with schools to extend care from 7 am to 7 pm is designed to offer students a secure environment where additional learning opportunities is accessible. The teams from the Early Intervention Programme, Student Care, Preschool and the Canossian Child Development Unit have extended their partnership across the different sectors to create a holistic learning environment and safe spaces despite our constraints.
Canossaville organised various activities to help improve the lives of the children and families in our care. For instance, the parents in the Village received festive care packs to ensure that their families can celebrate with their loved ones at home. Our children also participated in meaningful activities such as Grandparents Day, monthly birthday celebrations, Children’s Day, and many little programmes which is vital in the formation of their hearts in their growing years.
These tender moments would not have been possible without the support of friends and donors. Many friends and corporate sponsors support us because they believe in our cause. We are blessed with financial assistance from Catholic organisations like Caritas, without which, many of our programmes would not have been possible.
St Magdalene smiles from above and reminds us that whatever we do, we do for the glory of God and the sanctification of souls. For all that has been done, thank you. For all that is to come, Yes! We are happy because we are grateful. That gratitude allows me, my staff, and the children to be happy as well. We thank each of you, our partners in this ministry, for your trust, belief, and support in all that we do.
I echo the words of Charlotte Brontë, “Gratitude is a divine emotion: it fills the heart and warms it.” Indeed, it is a blessing to be grateful, for only those whose hearts are opened to the grace of God experience this beautiful gift.
May God bless you abundantly! Have a wonderful year-end holiday!
Blessed Christmas and we look forward to a great 2024 ahead!
