Mdm Alicia's Much Needed Support
Mdm Alicia (not her real name) is a devoted mother to three daughters, two of whom are in Canossaville Student Care.
In 2024, life took an unexpected turn when she went through a difficult divorce, becoming the sole caregiver to her children. With limited financial support, she juggled multiple odd jobs just to keep the family afloat.
Seeking comfort and stability, Mdm Alicia made the decision to move back to her maternal home. But the move brought new challenges, their new residence was far from her daughters’ school, and the daily commute left her unable to take on a full-time job. The pressure of caring for her children, coupled with emotional and financial stress, became overwhelming. Her prior struggles with mental health made this season even more daunting.
The teachers noticed changes in the emotional wellbeing of Mdm Alicia’s daughters. This concern was brought to the attention of our in-house counsellor, who reached out to both the children and Mdm Alicia.
Through the Canossian Child Development Unit (CCDU), Mdm Alicia received counselling at a subsidised rate, allowing her to process her emotions, rebuild her strength, and move forward with renewed hope. Her daughters were also supported through individual counselling sessions, where they found a safe space to express their feelings about the changes at home, school pressures, and more.
Together, they learned practical strategies to manage stress and navigate life’s transitions with resilience and courage.
At Canossaville, we believe no family should walk alone.
We walk alongside individuals and families during life’s most difficult seasons, building hope, restoring strength, and creating pathways forward.
Help children like Steven receive the support that they need.
