Preschool

A nurturing environment where children with different needs are given a great start in life.

About us

Canossaville Preschool is a mainstream preschool specialising in supporting children with hearing loss. We provide rich, play-based learning activities for children aged between 18 months to 6 years old.

Our team recognises that each child is an individual with unique strengths, needs, and talents. Children develop empathy and respect for others through our inclusive approach; and we foster their independence and well-being by encouraging self-help skills, regular physical activity and healthy eating. Our children are surrounded with kindness, love and compassion so they feel secure and happy in our care.

We believe that all children are precious gifts from God, and our mission is to develop them into confident individuals with a passion for learning, and living the Canossian values of compassion with respect for other people, nature and the environment.

Programmes

At Canossaville Preschool, our children are given a great start in life with programmes designed to nurture their all-round development as they progress through the different levels from Playgroup to K2. We empower our children to develop to their full potential by providing an engaging learning environment. With encouragement, guidance, and support from teachers, children are nurtured to become confident and independent lifelong learners.

Our holistic curriculum integrates Canossian character development with academic development, and is delivered in the groups and levels shown here:

Playgroup – for children aged 18 to 24 months

This is where the child’s learning journey begins. At this stage of their holistic development, the activities are focused on developing the child’s gross motor and basic fine motor skills; emotional security and social awareness. The foundation for language skills and bilingualism in English and Mandarin is formed through stories, songs, and sensory-rich experiences.

Nursery One & Two – for children aged 2 to 4 years

The activities in these stages are designed to further enhance the child’s gross and fine motor development, balance and coordination. There will be a strong focus on social skills and functional literacy in English and Mandarin – both listening and speaking. In addition, exposure to creative and aesthetic expression through drama, music and art will strengthen the child’s self-confidence, positive self-esteem and interpersonal skills.

Kindergarten One & Two – for children aged 4 to 6 years

At this level, the programme is tailored to improve the child’s physical abilities, develop their understanding of key concepts in mathematics and science; enhance their problem-solving and adaptive skills; and develop their musical and artistic expression. There will also be a strong emphasis on nurturing their character and values, respect for others and diversity, social responsibility and care for the environment. By this stage, the child’s resilience, creativity and passion for learning will be sufficiently formed to enable their successful transition to primary school.

Uniquely Canossian

As a mainstream preschool specialising in supporting children with hearing loss, Canossaville Preschool provides rich, play-based learning activities for children aged 18 months to six years old.

Recognising that each child is an individual with unique strengths, needs and talents, onsite holistic support for our children is made possible through the close collaboration between our teachers and our professionals from the Canossian Child Development Unit and our Early Intervention Programme for Infants and Children (EIPIC) teachers. With formation of the heart at the core of all that we do, Canossaville Preschoolers are taught the values of Charity, Humility, Forgiveness, and Faith. These values are transformed into action, through the Daily Acts of Kindness that is incorporated as part of our lessons in class. Our class sizes and teacher-child ratios are kept small so that children can have high quality engagement with teachers and peers.

The one-of-a-kind village setting also provides opportunities for interaction and learning with the older children at Canossa Catholic Primary School and Canossian School.

EIPIC

Canossaville Preschool has an Early Intervention Programme for Infants and Children (EIPIC) embedded in our preschool programme. We provide holistic support for children from 18 months to 6 years old with hearing loss through family-centred practices and a multidisciplinary approach in an inclusive preschool setting.

The focus of Canossian EIPIC is to provide children with the opportunity to maximize their learning potential in an oral programme while recognizing their diverse learning needs through language learning and developmentally appropriate activities that promotes inclusion in a language rich, safe and nurturing environment

Our Testimonials

Philip has become more sociable and vocal after attending Canossaville Preschool. Before he started school in January last year, he barely had any words. Seeing him speak in sentences now is a very big improvement to me.The passion of the teachers, the holistic one-stop team for those with hearing impairment and the accessibility to a speech therapist to assess students in need are attributes unique to Canossaville.

Melissa Oh

My children have improved in their ability to learn since joining Canossaville Preschool. Its Catholic spirituality makes it very unique. When Natalia was hospitalised early this year, the teachers (past and present) showed tremendous love and care for her, through words and deeds. Can’t thank them enough!

If you are looking for a holistic preschool education with a spirituality input, Canossaville is a choice school!
